Pupil Premium
Use of Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools on the basis of the following criteria: children from low-income families who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM); those who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years; those adopted from local authority care; and those who are currently 'looked after'. Pupils from service families are also eligible for another strand of the pupil premium funding.
Information about Pupil premium
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, they are accountable for how the additional funding is used to support pupils to whom it is allocated. Funding is allocated for the financial year, but schools report on its use and impact based on the academic year.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the time children have been off school we are aware of the need for pupils to catch up on the education they have possibly missed while away from school. The Disadvantaged pupils will be a priority area for us when providing catch up support for the children.
To support Pupil Premium children in 2021-2022, we will continue to provide some one-to-one tutoring for teaching and learning support groups. This has a real impact on closing the gap for these children, and we will continue to develop this further over the next year. Some money will continue to be targeted at social skills group sessions and to provide a tiered approach to social and emotional challenges in relation to issues due to the Covid 19 lockdown. Some social and cultural activities will also continue to be supported, so children are not disadvantaged.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy is inclusive of the Recovery Premium.

Am I Elegible for Pupil Premium?
As you may be aware, the school receives funding from central government via a number of streams. One of these is known as the pupil premium grant, which is allocated on the grounds of family income and entitlement to free school meals. The government has introduced the pupil premium grant to help children from low income families reach their full potential and to achieve higher academic grades at school.
It is, therefore, very important that you register your child for the pupil premium grant even if he or she does not wish to have a meal. Similarly, you must register even if they are in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and therefore entitled to a Free School Meal anyway. This is very important as the school budget is affected by the number of children entitled to Free School Meals.
The level of funding that the school will receive for 2021/22 is £1345 per primary school aged child in receipt of FSM/Ever 6 and £2,345 for children who are or have ever been in care. This additional funding will enable the school to provide support in a variety of ways including extra tuition, additional teaching staff and financial assistance with residential trips, outings and clubs. For further information on how we spend the pupil premium grant, please see our plans below.
In order to determine if your child qualifies and to allow us to claim the funding it is important that all parents and carers who feel they may meet the criteria below collect a form from the School Office.
